yesterday we said good-bye to Lavender

she was named for her lavender tinge of grey. 
she turned 8 in May, and was our oldest chicken. 
she was an Olive-Egger (chicken mutt of Copper Marans and Ameraucana) who laid olive green eggs. 
she taught the others what to do and not to do.. she put them in their place and was mediator when any fights broke out. she was our sweetest chicken.

we had our first snake in the yard today.. we put all the dogs away, then shoo'd him through the chain link.. I was not concerned because "he's" not dangerous.. VERY pretty though. I know an old lady.. who's 4 years old!!

how did she get to be so old? I remember when she was 1... 6 months of fun, when all said and done..  I remember when she was 2... already a mom, but we made it through... I remember when she was 3...  so ball-obsessed, but we let her be..  and now she's 4 🎵𝅘𝅥𝅮   is this the little girl I carried is this the little girl at play? I don't remember growing older?  when did they?  when did she get to be a beauty?  when did she grow to be so tall?  wasn't it yesterday when she was small?
