we've been working with Gwen
we had a neighbor (before we moved) who would throw kibble in his yard for his dog to search.. he made a game out of it, but the dog got to use his skills. well, Gwen is obsessed with her ball. which means she's obsessed with having us throw it for her. we have started hiding it in a box.. and then a box in a box.. and now a box in a box in a box. she knows what to do. I had already taught her "use your sniffer" when she couldn't find a ball we'd thrown. I started that with the box (out of sight, out of mind..) now she sticks her nose in the box and works to unpack that box. all the way down until she gets the ball out. she's short on patience but we still try to make her work for it.. to use her brain. she LOVES it !
