we took a break from 'farm' life - all the girls can handle themselves
such a fun weekend, I didn't want it to end!
we left Friday around noon, got to Kernville around 2:30ish (I think?)
we set up camp and relaxed a bit. pitched the tent, inflated the air mattress.. unpacked our gear.
we attempted to enjoy the quiet away from home.. but of course there was an event in town - so it wasn't as quiet as we were expecting π
that night, someone was playing music VERY LOUDLY at 2am π
Saturday we walked to Kern River Brewing for brunch. they actually weren't open yet so we walked a bit further to Sierra South Mountain Sports for a backpack, and some sunblock.. then back to Kern River Brewing & sat on the patio. the dogs wanted to bark at everything and everybody π so this was good training for them to be social. also good training to walk around cars and loud motorcycles on the road.
after enjoying our good food, we walked to Rivernook Campground to put our feet in the (FREEZING) cold Kern River. by then, the dogs barked at no one. after that, the trek 'home' to our "campsite", a total of 1.81 miles - UPHILL!
after that a little shopping for dinner (I stayed at camp with the dogs, Ronnie went to the market)
we saw 3 deer Friday evening
we saw 2 roaming doggies Saturday morning.. which of course made our doggies go bonkers π
we packed up and left camp around 10 this morning..
Gwen got carsick on the way there,
but had a little bit of Dramamine for the trip back - that made all the difference!
